AATF / Released November 2006
Air cavalry operations across four decades, from the Ia Drang Valley to Mogadishu and Afghanistan.
The helicopter changed the shape of ground combat. It let commanders put infantry precisely where they were needed, across terrain no vehicle could cross, and lift them out again just as quickly. Air Assault Task Force is about commanding that capability.
Four campaigns span four decades of helicopter warfare: a rotation through the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, the landing at LZ X-Ray in the Ia Drang Valley, the 1993 Ranger raid in Mogadishu, and Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan. Lift assets, landing zones, aviation fires and the timing that ties them to the ground scheme of manoeuvre are all part of the problem you are handed.
AATF is the most developed version of the ProSIM simulation. It carries forward the AI and the chain-of-command model from BCT Commander and Armored Task Force, and adds aviation, better planning tools and a substantially improved interface. In 2007 Boeing commissioned a custom build of it for ground combat training, to run alongside their intelligent tutoring and after-action review system.
“The ProSim series is easily the number one modern wargame system on the market today.”
